Snake 'strangles Canadian children'

A snake has killed two children in a New Brunswick city after escaping from a pet shop, Canadian media report.

Police told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation that the serpent had strangled two boys, aged five and seven, in Campbellton.

The boys reportedly lived in an apartment above the pet shop.

Royal Mounted Canadian Police said it is thought that the snake slipped out of its cage overnight and travelled through the ventilation.
