The Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association and the Bulgarian Embassy inHanoi hosted a reception on May 24 on the occasion of the Day ofSlavonic Alphabet and the Bulgarian Culture Day in Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Vietnam-Bulgaria FriendshipAssociation Nguyen Van Tuan thanked the Bulgarian people for theirsolidarity and precious support for the Vietnamese people’s struggle fornational independence in the past as well as the national constructionand development at present.

He stressed that Bulgariahas helped Vietnam train high quality human personnel, many ofthem are holding important positions in the society.

Bulgarian Charge d’Affaires in Vietnam Slavena Gergova said that theceremony is an evidence for the friendly and traditional relationsbetween the two peoples.

The Day of Slavonic Alphabeton May 24 is founded to commemorate Bulgarian brothers Cyril andMethodius, who created the first Slavonic alphabet which later became abase for all Slavonic languages.-VNA
