Students promote Vietnam-RoK friendship VNTimes

A cultural exchange forum for students of Vietnam and the Republicof Korea (RoK) took place in May 26, with an eloquence contest inboth Vietnamese and Korean languages.

The contest,themed “Vietnam and RoK’s roles in the world peace” attracted 13students from both countries, representing three major universities inUlsan, Busan and Kyeongnam.




Addressing theopening, President of the Association of People Who Love Vietnam inthe RoK Park Kwang-joo said the event is a chance for youngsters,the future owners of both countries, to gain better understanding on thevalue of peace, and to exchange study experience and strengthen mutualunderstanding as well.




Vietnamese Ambassador to theRoK Tran Trong Toan described the contest as a practical activity tohelp students of both countries to deepen understanding on each other’sculture, nation and people.




Contestants highlightedcultural similarities between the two countries, the role that bothcountries play in the world peace in the context of sea and islanddisputes in the region and the nuclear issue in the Korean Peninsula.




Dinh Thi Ly Van from Youngsan University wonthe first prize with a speech on Vietnam and RoK’s efforts toaffirm their roles in maintaining and protecting peace in the world.




The cultural exchange forum was co-hosted by the Association ofPeople Who Love Vietnam in the RoK (VEDAMO) and Youngsan University.-VNA
