The Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint-stock Company, the country’s leadingNPK maker, on May 28 began the construction of a production line in thenorthern province of Ninh Binh.

The company’sfirst factory in the north has a designed capacity of 150,000 tonnes ofNPK fertilizer per year in the first stage, which will be increased to400,000 tonnes in the second phase, said Binh Dien Chairman and CEO LeQuoc Phong at the groundbreaking ceremony.

Totalinvestment for the project is nearly 300 billion VND (about 15 millionUSD), and once completed, it will create jobs for more than 300 locallabourers, Phong added.

Construction work is projected to take 18 months.

Once the branch is fully operational, Binh Dien Fertilizer SJC, whichhas a main factory in the southern province of Long An and threesubsidiary companies in other provinces, will be capable of producingmore than 1 million tonnes of NPK fertilizer annually, meeting over 30percent of the domestic demand.-VNA
