Addressing the event, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan said a greatmajority of children have enjoyed better care and finest values over thepast years thanks to due attention by the Party, State, families andthe whole society.
However, the care forunderprivileged children remains a challenge for the society, shesaid, adding that this year’s action month with the theme “Creatingequal development opportunities for poor and ethnic minority children”is of great significance to the task of caring for, educating andprotecting children at present.
The Vice Presidentasked authorities, organisations, communities and families nationwide towork out more measures to assist underprivileged children as well asimplement effectively the National Action Programme for Children in2011-2020 period and the 2011-2015 National Child Protection Programme.
On this occasion, the National Fund for VietnameseChildren (NFVC) received nearly 10 billion VND from five domestic andforeign donors to sponsor the implementation of programs and projectsfor disabled children and children of difficult circumstances.
Responding the International Children’s Day (June 1) and the ActionMonth for Children 2013, localities and units across the country havecarried out a range of practical activities for children, especiallythose of difficult circumstances and Agent Orange/Dioxin victims.-VNA
