The cost to taxpayers of supporting the monarchy rose by almost £1m to £33.3m during the Diamond Jubilee year, it has been revealed.
Buckingham Palace accounts showed the Queen's official expenditure was £900,000 more in 2012/13 than in the previous 12 months.
The year's costs included £18.3m on staff and £9.1m on building upkeep.
Sir Alan Reid, Keeper of the Privy Purse, said the figure was a "real terms reduction" in spending.
