George Osborne and Danny Alexander are due to unveil their spending review later this month
The Home Office and five other departments are the latest to reach a deal with George Osborne over spending cuts, the government has confirmed.
The chancellor has already agreed cuts of up to 10% with seven government departments for 2015-6 ahead of his spending review on 26 June.
But defence has yet to settle amid concerns about military job cuts.
Policing counter terrorism is understood to have been protected from the Home Office cuts.
The latest departments to settle with Mr Osborne and Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander, in addition to the Home Office, are the Department for Rural Affairs, Department for Culture Media and Sport, Scotland, Wales and Law Offices.
It was announced earlier this month that the Ministry of Justice, Department for Communities and Local Government, Department for Energy and Climate Change, Treasury, Cabinet Office, Foreign Office and Northern Ireland had all settled.
Mr Osborne has called for further belt-tightening in Whitehall, on top of the billions being cut from departmental budgets between 2011 and 2015, as he tries to get to grip with the deficit in the public finances.
Labour has said the government's austerity drive is failing and warned of potential capability gaps in defence.
