Laos honours Gia Lai’s units, individuals VNTimes

Vietnam’s Gia Lai province and Laos’ Attapeu province on June 7organised a ceremony to present Laos’ awards for units and individualsin Gia Lai, in recognition of their contributions to the ties betweenthe two provinces.

During the past year, the twoprovinces have supported each other in numerous areas such as economy,culture, education and training, and transportation, bringing specificand practical benefits to both sides.

Gia Lai hastrained medical workers and teachers for Attapeu and built a 4.7 billionVND school for the Lao province, while Attapeu helped train fiveVietnamese officials in Lao language.

They havealso worked closely in ensuring security and public order and building aborder line of peace and friendship. The two provinces have completedthe demarcation of boundary line and planting of land marker in linewith the treaty on national border delimitation between Vietnam andLaos signed in July 1977.

The Lao Presidentconferred the second and third-class Freedom Order to 11 individuals inGia Lai, while three other units and 18 individuals were awarded theFriendship Order and four individuals received the Friendship Insignia.

Fifteen units and two individuals in Gia Lai province were presented with the Lao Prime Minister’s Certificate of Merit.-VNA
