Man admits Christmas organist murder

A man has pleaded guilty to the murder of church organist Alan Greaves.


Mr Greaves, 68, died three days after he was assaulted as he made his way to Midnight Mass at St Saviour's Church near his home in High Green, Sheffield, on Christmas Eve.


Appearing at the city's crown court, Jonathan Bowling, 22, of Burngreave, Sheffield, admitted murder.


Ashley Foster, 21, of Wesley Road, High Green, denies murdering Mr Greaves. He will stand trial on 24 June.


Bowling will be sentenced at the end of Mr Foster's trial.
