Laura Robson will attempt to reach the third round of Wimbledon for the first time when her rain-delayed match against Colombia's Mariana Duque-Marino opens Friday's play on Centre Court.

The British number one was due to play on Court Two on Thursday before bad weather intervened.

When play gets under way at 13:00 BST, Robson and Duque-Marino will be competing for the chance to face New Zealander Marina Erakovic who overcame 24th seed Shuai Peng 7-6 (8-6) 6-2.

Following a little rain on Thursday, Ben Rich brings us the latest thinking on the weather forecast for Wimbledon.

Robson, 19, upset 10th seed Maria Kirilenko in the first round, opening up a potential path into the second week of the tournament.

Duque-Marino, 23, is happiest on clay courts and her career-high ranking of 94 came three years ago, but she came through three rounds of qualifying and beat world number 36 Julia Goerges in the main draw on Tuesday.

Robson has proved over the last year that she can beat top-10 players on the biggest stages, but eight first-round defeats in 2013 suggest she can struggle when expected to win.

"I think I go out against the top players with nothing to lose, and I've always been like that," said Robson.

Robson's Wimbledon record

2013: 1st rnd bt Maria Kirilenko 6-3 6-4

2012: 1st rnd lost to Francesca Schiavone 2-6 6-4 6-4

2011: 1st rnd beat Angelique Kerber 4-6 7-6 (7-4) 6-3

2nd rnd lost 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 to Maria Sharapova

2010: 1st rnd lost to Jelena Jankovic 6-3 7-6 (7-5)

"And in the past I've started out well in the first couple of games of the first set and then just not been able to hold on to that lead.

"I've been really happy with my progress in the last couple months with that and just being able to tough out wins.

"I think you have to treat every match the same. Just go out there, stay focused the whole time. You might not have a good start, have a couple bad games, but you just have to stay on it no matter who you're playing.

"Just believe that you can pull through."

Robson is in the same quarter of the draw as five-time champion Serena Williams, who went through earlier on Thursday with a 6-3 6-2 win over France's Caroline Garcia.
